Mrs Robinson, tells the story of how young Mary Bourke from Ballina, County Mayo became Ireland's first female President in 1990. A reforming constitutional lawyer and senator in her early career, Mary held the presidency for seven eventful years, championing women’s rights in Ireland and laying the foundations for the Irish Peace Process.

Later, she became UN High Commissioner and is celebrated for fearlessly challenging perpetrators of human rights abuses all over the world. To this day, she exerts power and leadership as the Chair of The Elders; the independent group of global leaders who work for peace, justice and human rights. As an influential global voice, Mary Robinson is also spearheading Project Dandelion: a women-led climate justice campaign.

Join us on Thursday at 8pm for this week's Film@BirrTheatre instalment.
